Title: CascadeDance
This original painting was just accepted into the 2020 Northwest Watercolor Society international juried show! I'm thrilled! It's a favorite!
I found this lively dancing dahlia at the famous Butchart Gardens near Victoria, BC. It's actually a white flower with curling cascading petals that I couldn't resist. The shadows of white are a great opportunity to explore colors instead of the simple gray that is seen in the photos bringing this flower to ever more life!
This painting is pure transparent watercolor on a full sheet of 140# Arches Cold Press paper.

The art is professionally photographed which will make reproductions impossible to discern from the original painting other than the deckle edge of the painting which is part of the original art. About Sandy Haight
Watercolor is my medium. I zoom in and compose from my photos to fill a picture plane with a compelling design that takes the viewer into an abstract and sensual world. I look for beautiful transitions of color or textures that could be expressed luminously with my many glazes of watercolor, or that might provide an opportunity for me to try new painting techniques. I paint the inner landscape of flowers calling these works Floralscapes. The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design.
