Artist's Description
Title: California Calla Lily
These powerful calla lilies trumpet gardens so easily in the San Francisco area. My daughter's back yard always has them blooming abundantly. I love this one for its white heart shape view of the elegant bloom and the wavering green leaves which I've painted with a light turquoise touch. So sensual and glowing as only watercolor can be!
This painting is pure transparent watercolor on a full sheet of 300# Arches Cold Press paper. The art is professionally photographed which will make reproductions impossible to discern from the original painting other than the deckle edge of the painting which is part of the original art. It is mounted on archival foam core to reveal the deckle edges of the paper and framed with a contemporary white metal frame and plexiglass.

About Sandy Haight
Watercolor is my medium. I zoom in and compose from my photos to fill a picture plane with a compelling design that takes the viewer into an abstract and sensual world. I look for beautiful transitions of color or textures that could be expressed luminously with my many glazes of watercolor, or that might provide an opportunity for me to try new painting techniques. I paint the inner landscape of flowers calling these works Floralscapes. The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design.
