Title: Rising Up

I painted this sunflower, the national flower for Ukraine, in homage to their struggle for peace and independence. I hope to donate half of the proceeds from the sale of this original painting to organizations supporting the Ukrainian people who are coping with the invasion and devastation of their country. The painting is transparent watercolor on 140lb Arches cold press paper and is unframed. This, and all my paintings are professionally photographed and reproduce beautifully on all the Fine Art America prints and products! Enjoy.

For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them. This view into the flower or plant I call "Floralscapes".

Watercolor is my medium. I zoom in and compose from my photos to fill a picture plane with a compelling design that takes the viewer into an abstract and sensual world. I look for beautiful transitions of color or textures that could be expressed luminously with my many glazes of watercolor, or that might provide an opportunity for me to try new painting techniques. I paint the inner landscape of flowers calling these works Floralscapes. The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design.
