Description
Title: Frillery
What could be more frilly than white scalloped edges defining the individual leaves of this colorful plant, a coleus. It feels like a flower in its lushness, but with the complexity of a tapestry. This painting was juried into a members show of the NWWS, Northwest Watercolor Society, in fall of 2014 juried by Michael Reardon and is a favorite of many for its rich, sophisticated color.
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them. This view into the flower or plant I call "Floralscapes".
This watercolor is painted on 140# Arches Cold Press paper. It is an original watercolor painting, not a print. A Certificate of Authenticity comes with the artwork signed by Sandy Haight. This painting is framed with a white archival mat and a simple white contemporary metal frame ready to hang in your home or office.

I was honored to be the gold medal winning poster artist for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in 2016 with my watercolor painting of a tulip bouquet.
In 2012 I qualified to be a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). This is earned by being juried into a select number of local chapter and international watercolor society shows sponsored by NWWS. The initials now follow my signature on my watercolor paintings.
