Description
Walking near the Conservatory in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with 4 year old Kali I was drawn to the variegated leaves of this large prickly aloe plant. Many of the clusters pointed down concealing the centers from my adult point of view, but Kali noticed the beautiful blue buds emerging from the center of the bloom and got me to squat down with my camera to shoot this colorful plant. Returning to Seattle I immersed into this prickly painting, but I couldn't seem to identify the plant name of this aloe with the beautiful blue center. No pictures showed up on Google. When I returned to find the same plants 4 months later, the buds had all become huge stalks with bright orange flowers high up in the air. I discovered the name of the plant must be Aloe Aborescens from S. Africa.
The original painting is framed with a white Neilsen 1" metal frame for a contemporary look. It has white archival mat and archival foam core backing. The frame is 22" x 28".
For the past couple years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
This is a small archival giclee print on matte paper of an original watercolor painting by Sandy Haight, a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. The giclee is an amazingly accurate replica of the watercolor painting. It is matted with a white archival mat and archival foam core backing and ready for a standard sized frame to fit your decor. Original painting may be also available on Etsy. The copyright notice is not part of this print but used only to protect the image on this post.

I was honored to be the gold medal winning poster artist for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in 2016 with my watercolor painting of a tulip bouquet.
In 2012 I qualified to be a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). This is earned by being juried into a select number of local chapter and international watercolor society shows sponsored by NWWS. The initials now follow my signature on recent watercolor paintings.
