This flower swoops toward us like a bride in her gown. The white amaryllis flower trumpets out, tall and grand, around the holidays to remind us of the beauty of nature during our darkest months of the year. Close up and personal, this view draws us into its magic.
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
This watercolor is painted on 140# Arches Cold Press paper. It is framed with a Florentine gold, brushed metal 1" frame and a 3.5" white mat with archival backing and conservation glass. A Certificate of Authenticity comes with the watercolor signed by Sandy Haight. It is ready to hang for your pleasure.

The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design. As my paintings get larger, and I face new technical challenges with watercolor,...
