Title: Arboretum Star
I lived across from the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle for 20 years where I photographed this amazing scene. I'm a watercolor artist who has focused on painting close up views of flowers. "Arboretum Star" is somewhat of a departure as I'm including the luscious wet background of the lily pads as a way to explore some interesting texture treatments and the luminosity of the puddling in the leaves. It sets the stage for the bloom to burst out like a star in the pond.
The art is professionally photographed which will make reproductions impossible to discern from the original painting other than the deckle edge of the painting which is part of the original art.
This painting is 100% transparent watercolor on Arches cold press paper. The size listed is the image area. The original painting has a white archival mat and backing and a white metal 1" box frame.
Image size: 20" x 14"
Frame size: 28.5" x 22.5".

The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design. As my paintings get larger, and I face new technical challenges with watercolor,...
