Description
As the Skagit County tulip Festival poster artist for 2016 I photographed the rich variety of tulips in the gardens at RoozenGaarde. The Apricot Parrot tulip grabbed my attention with its frills and color gradients and its hodgepodge of petals going every which way. As I zoomed in on the inner bloom, the design got more abstract and called out to be made big!
This is a full sheet watercolor on heavy paper, framed floating on a white archival mat with its full deckle edge showing. The frame is white metal, thick and contemporary. Image size: 30" x 22". Frame size: 39.5" x 31.5".
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
In 2012 I qualified to be a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). This is earned by being juried into a select number of local chapter and international watercolor society shows sponsored by NWWS. The initials now follow my signature on recent watercolor paintings.

Your talents are one of the most amazing artists I have seen on Fine Art America, especially using watercolors. I thought for sure they were computer photography generated until I zoomed in on the artworks! Your works are truly amazing! Very impressive!!!
